Additionally, note the appealing contrast between the Red Oak used for the case and the Black Walnut which frames the top. The edges of the infill panels are eased to create a comfortable, distressed look. The lid is supported by self supporting hinges to prevent unexpected closings.

Note the soft grain of the Black Walnut which performs beatufully with the pronounced grain pattern of the Red Oak in the Chest. The finish used on this project is a Minwax Early American Stain followed by 4 coats of a Deft full gloss lacquer.
