The material in this table base is 3/4" (+) thick Red Oak stained with Minwax, Special Walnut and then sealed with 3 coats of Deft full gloss lacquer. The top is made of the same Red Oak glued and screwed to a 5/8" thick substrate of plywood and then banded with 1.5" x 3" Black Walnut. The top was then stained like the base and then sealed with 6 coats of Varathane full gloss, water based polyurethane with an aluminum oxide additive for scratch resistance. This particular finish is actually sold for sealing floors.
