Our island designed for smaller kitchens or kitchens with complicated traffic patterns. As you will see in the animation, it expands to nearly twice it's length when you need the extra work room. Then it slides easily back together when the fun is over. Both sections of this top are red oak butcher block. The sliding section has 3 coats of clear polyurethane finish which is very durable & easy to wipe clean. The stationary section is treated with a "food friendly" oil only. My suggestion is to do all cutting on this surface. That way, when it is closed, the knife scars are no longer visible. BACK
